Carl R. Burch, Jr., affectionately known as "Duke," age 51, of Rome, passed away February 18, 2017.
He was born August 27, 1965, a son of the late Carl R. Burch, Sr., and Florence Lyke, and educated in Rome schools. Carl was united in marriage to the former Deborah R. Almony, on June 20, 1987, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a self-employed carpenter and worked in the Rome area for many years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army.
Carl is survived by: his wife, Deborah; a son and girlfriend, Justin M. Burch and Lena Pound of Charleston, SC; his mother, Florence Aikens; step-father, Daniel J. Aikens; his grandparents, Hugh and June Aikens; a brother and sister in law, Scott and Marnie Burch of Rome; sister, Vicki Burch and fiance´, Greg Ellinger of Rome; sister Michele and brother-in-law Kevin Simons of Rome; father in law, Russell Almony and wife, Sue; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews whom he absolutely adored; and his Pug, Sir Tiki Little Duke.
Funeral services will be private, there are no calling hours.
