Billy B. Cornett, age 86, of Kingston TN, and formerly of Rome, passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving, devoted, wife at the Roane Medical Center, Harriman, TN on January 25, 2016.

He was born August 2, 1929, in Pageton, W. VA, a son of the late W. Alfred and Mabel Belcher Cornett. Billy was preceded in death by his sister Lucy Alvis, brother William, and sister Jeanettie.

Billy was united in marriage to the former Barbara Ann Patrick, originally of Camden, NY, on December 1, 1980, in Spartanburg, SC. For many years he served as the Maintenance Manager/Shop Foreman at O'Boyle Tank Lines, Newington, VA and Matlack Tank Lines, Fairfax, VA retiring in December 1986 in support of his wife Barbara's career move to Rome Labs and later relocating to Eglin AFB, FL, living in Niceville, FL. While in Rome he worked for Patrick Heating of the Mohawk Vallley, Inc. and actively supported the Ziyara Shriner's Transportation Unit driving patients to the Springfield and Boston, MA. Shriners Hospitals. While living in Niceville, FL he supported the Pensacola Hadji Shrine, transporting patients to the Shriner Hospital For Children, Tampa, FL.

Billy was a proud member of the USAF, serving in the Korean War and various locations in the United States including Memphis, TN. He attended the Immanuel Baptist Church while living in Rome, the Faith Independent Baptist Church in Valparaiso, FL and since relocating to Kingston, TN, the Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Billy was a member of the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #243 F&AM, Mountain City, TN, Ziyara Shriners, Utica, NY, Transportation Unit, Universal Craftsmen Council of Engineers, Inc., and the American Legion, Post No. 0296 Destin, FL.

Billy is survived by his wife Barbara, son Wade, daughter-in-law, Kami and his two, adored grandchildren, Wade II and Katy May.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, 4 to 7 PM prior to the funeral service

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ziyara Shriner's Mortgage Reduction Fund. Envelopes will be provided.
