Beverly H. "Bud" Jones

Beverly "Bud" Henley Jones, Jr., age 82, of Rome, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2013 at Rome Hospital, with his family by his side, after a brief illness.



Bud was born on April 17, 1931, in San Francisco, CA, to the late Beverly Henley and Jessie Venetta Frey Jones. He graduated from Wagner College with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, and was employed as an engineer at Rome Lab on Griffiss Air Force Base. Bud married the former Ernestine Ann Petsch on April 3, 1955, in Newburg, NY; she passed away on February 8, 2002.



Bud enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He taught hunter safety courses and kids at Conservation Education Days. He was a lifetime member of the Steuben Fish and Game Club and the National Rifle Association.



Bud is survived by five children and their spouses, Laura and Richard Diters of Williamstown, Patty and David Massage of Chenango Forks, Sheryl and Richard Woodcock of Verona and Pam and Robert Johnson of Allen, TX; one son and daughter in law, Michael and Bonnie Cardinal Jones of Rome; ten grandchildren; and a sister in law, Charlotte Polite of Hillsborough, NJ.



Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2013, at 5:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 5 PM, prior to the funeral service.
