Betty J. "Noni" Dorn, age 80, of Rome, passed away on December 31, 2015 at home, surrounded by her family.
Betty was born on November 26, 1935 in Rome to the late Nelson and Katherine Jones Haynes. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. Betty grew up at Lake Delta, where she met her "boyfriend," Bob Dorn. They were united in marriage on December 26, 1954; a blessed union until his passing on March 14, 2013. Together, they raised their children at Lake Delta. Betty worked as a nurse's aide at Betsy Ross and Stonehedge.
Betty enjoyed Patsy's bus trips to the casino with her Aunt Bette Michaniw. Her pride and joy was caring for her grandchildren and later, her great, grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Debby (Kevin) Kay of NC, and Cheri Pazdur of Rome; a son, Bob Dorn of Rome; grandchildren, Aimee Simmons, Megan Pazdur, and Sean Kay; great grandchildren, Ryan, Joshua, and Kelly Thayer; a sister, Beverly Danielski; a brother Neil Haynes; and many nieces, nephews, and aunts. She had a special love for her sisters in law, Vonne Haynes and Betty Monsees, and a "3rd daughter," Julie Baker. She was predeceased by a brother, Nelson Haynes; and grandsons, Michael J. Pazdur and Brenden S. Kay.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 4 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 4 prior to the service.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care and/or the Lake Delta Vol. Fire Department.
