Betty J. "Depeyster" Street

Betty J. Street, age 91, of Rome, passed away March 30, 2016 in Venice, Florida. She was born in Utica, daughter of Pierre and Theresa Maiers DePeyster. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart School and Whitesboro Central School. She married James K. Street on July 1, 1950, at Sacred Heart Church; he passed away in 2003.



Betty retired from Griffiss Air Force Base in 1984 where she worked in civilian personnel. She had previously been employed by the Homestead Savings and Loan Association for several years.



Betty enjoyed many trips traveling the country during her retirement.



Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Christine Street of Venice, Fl,; three grandchildren Cynthia (Justin) Hensen of Holly Springs, NC, Erin (Adam) Kline of High Point, NC and Amy (James) Feldmann of Holly Springs, NC; and two great grandchildren, Kelsi Hensen and McCabe Feldmann. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Pierre.



Betty was a member of the NARFE, GALS Club, AARP, St. Peters Seniors and Ava Dorfman.



Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:15 AM, from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut St., a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Philip A. Hearn, officiating, at St. Peter's Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Monday 4 to 6 PM.
