Bertha L. "Smith" Wolzmuth

Bertha Louise Wolzmuth, age 89, of Rome, passed away on October 2, 2015 at home.
Bertha was born in Steuben, NY to the late Joseph A. and Ruth Ingersoll Smith. She graduated from Poland Central School in the class of 1943. She was united in marriage to Donald E. Wolzmuth on June 28, 1947; a union of over 50 years until his passing on February 10, 1998. Bertha worked at and retired from Rome Cable in 1978 after 35 years of service.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rome and of the Holly Chapter #178 Order of the Eastern Star.
Bertha is survived by her brother, Robert of Herkimer; four sisters, Helen Smith and Betty Marko of Middleville, Jane Groudons of FL, and Pearl Mabbitt of Canajoharie; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Bernice Smith, Mary Rachon and Irene Seely; and brothers, William, Joseph and David Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 7 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be on Wednesday at 10 AM in Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care.
