Beatrice
Shaddon
Nov 3, 1939 — Aug 11, 2026
Beatrice Shaddon, age 87, born on November 3, 1939, a daughter of Lynn and Sarah Yourdan Shaddon, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026 at Route 31 IRA with her loving staff by her side after a brief illness.
Beatrice's parents were farmers and she worked on the family farm growing up. She had many brothers and sisters and was "right in the middle." In 1993, she was placed with OPWDD in Utica, NY. She moved to the Route 31 IRA in September 2025. She previously resided at Maple Lane for a long time until she moved to Lowell IRA due to a change in mobility.
Beatrice was a special woman who had a vibrant personality and brought laughter and joy to everyone who knew her. She was a woman who never went unnoticed. Her big smile and a wonderful way of making those around her smile and laugh. She enjoyed the simple things in life: a good cup of coffee, shopping at her favorite store, Boscov's, watching her favorite TV show, Law and Order, reading her daily newspaper, and getting her nails done. She loved the colors pink and purple and enjoyed looking at the flowers outside her home on Route 31 with her dolls. Beatrice had a special place in her heart for her cat, Jack, who resided with her at Route 31.
Beatrice was loved and cherished by her staff at the Route 31 IRA and had a special place in her heart for Kavie, Kayla, Rafeal from Route 31 IRA and Cathy from the Lowell IRA.
Beatrice will be deeply missed by her caregivers who have had the pleasure of making memorial throughout her life.
A procession will start at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Rome, on Tuesday, August 18, at 11:30 AM and will go to Westernville Cemetery where a graveside service will be held at 12 PM. Friends are welcome to join in for the services.
