Barbara J. Russell, age 57, of Rome, passed away November 29, 2011, at home, with her loving family at her side.
She was born January 26, 1954, in Syracuse, a daughter of the late, Ivan and Arlene Schafer Foster, and educated in Rome schools. She was married to Wilbert Russell, Jr.; he died September 15, 1980.
Barbara's life revolved around her family. She loved raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild.
Barbara is survived by three daughters, Valerie Fey of Taberg, Juliet Russell of Taberg, and Katherine Foster of Blossvale; three sons and daughters in law, Wilbert III and Crista Russell of Rome, Thomas Foster and Angel Pitoniak of Taberg, and Ashley Foster and Sabrina Ross of Canastota; sisters, Patricia Pritchard and Katherine Seymour of Rome; brothers and a sister in law, Ivan Foster of Rome, and Thomas and Paula Foster of Blossvale; 18 grandchildren, including Jessica Smith and Felicia Fey Smith, and another expected grandchild on her birthday; and 1 great grandchild.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 4:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Saturday 1 to 4 PM, prior to the funeral service.
The family wishes to thank the Visiting Nurses for their care, compassion and friendship extended to Barbara during her illness.
