Audrey D. Johnson went to heaven to join her husband of 61 years, Everett, on April 29, 2015, after a long illness. Her last days were spent at home surrounded by all her loved ones.



She was born June 6, 1927, in Rome a daughter of the late Edward and Ethel Martin Derenzy. Audrey was united in marriage to Everett Johnson on September 19, 1943; he died on October 18, 2004. She was employed by the Rome CNYDSO for 25 years, before her retirement.



Audrey was totally devoted to her family, whether it was a picnic, sports event or a prom; if family was involved, so was she. She loved shopping with her daughter and friends Pauline and McCoy. She also loved playing Bingo with her sister, Shirley and making a day of it at the Casino.



Audrey is survived by her son and daughter in law, Harry and Carol Johnson; grandchildren, Chrissy, Patty, Tammy and Craig; great grandchildren, Casey, Brett, Travis, Nathan, Dominick, Olivia, Audrianna, Giovani, Elyssa, Crispen and Irelynn; great great grandchildren, Tayton and Briella; many nieces and nephews in New York, Washington and North Carolina. She also is survived by a sister, Shirley Davis of Washington; and her canine companion, "Bow", who stayed at her bedside continually during her illness. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ethel Vaughn and grandson, Michael Johnson.



The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday 1 to 3 PM, prior to the funeral service.
