Anthony J. Lo Vaglio, age 72, of Rome, passed away peacefully, February 2, 2014, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Facility, with his loving family at his side.



He was born June 21, 1941, in the Bronx, the son of the late Joseph and Mary Spinella Lo Vaglio, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1959. Anthony was united in marriage to the former Barbara Leavens on January 11, 1964, in Rome, a blessed marriage of 50 years. He was employed at Rome Lab at Griffiss Air Force Base, retirng in 1996, and later worked at Stiefvater Consultants. He was a member of St. Paul's Church and a life member of the Rome Radio Club and his call number was WA2GBE.



Anthony loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He always looked forward to his Wednesday lunch group "the Italian Boys" at LaRoma's. He also enjoyed listening to music and was a true lover of "Jazz".



Anthony is survived by his wife, Barbara; two daughters and a son in law, Maria and Robert Richie of Rome, and JoAnn and Scott Cook of Rome; a son and daughter in law, Joseph and Margaret Lo Vaglio of Blossvale; and grandchildren, Connor and Keegan Richie, Katelyn, Natalle, Abigail and Emily Cook, and Jessica, Garrett and Wyatt Lo Vaglio.



The family sincerely thanks Dr. Chris Max, Peter Dellerba and their staff, Dr. Eldredge and Dr. Regulagadda, CNYCardiology, Dr. Feeney, Kelly and Karen, the CCU nurses and Donna from 2W, at Faxton-St.Luke's Healthcare Facility, Mohawk Glen Dialysis Center, especially Laurie and Michelle, Lake Delta Volunteer Fire Department, AmCare Ambulance and special friend Zen Pryk, for their care, compassion and friendship extended to Anthony during his illness.



Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:15 AM from the Barry Funeraal Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street and a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday from 4 to 7 PM.



Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
