Ann J. Kenneally, age 96, of Rome, passed away peacefully at Bethany Gardens, April 23, 2016, with her loving family at her side.
She was born March 1, 1920, in Waterville, a daughter of the late Albert and Ellen Maloney McNamara, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1939. Ann was united in marriage to Francis "Red" J. Kenneally, on August 9, 1947, a blessed union of 50 years, in the St. Mary of the Assumption Church; he died on October 12, 1997. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church.
Ann's life revolved around her family and her church. She was very active in St. Mary's Altar Rosary Society, St. Mary's School Mother's Club and Parent Teacher Association. She also could be found working side by side with her husband, "Red" at St. Mary's Church, Spring and Harvest dinners for many years.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Roxanne Kenneally of Liverpool, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Catherine McNamara, Ellen Ziemann and Marjorie McNamara; and five brothers, James, Donald, Patrick, Edward and Burke McNamara.
The family sincerely thanks the Staff of Bethany Gardens, especially Becky, Nicole and Kevin W., and the 6th floor staff, for their compassionate and comforting "end of life" care extended to Ann the past few days
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:15 AM, from Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and a Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Father Philip A. Hearn, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday 4 to 7 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's/St. Peter's Church Memorial Fund or Bethany Gardens Activities Fund.
