Alvina "Viney" S. Halder, age 86, of Schenectady and formerly of Rome, passed away peacefully August 13, 2011 in Schenectady.
She was born December 16, 1924, in Forestport, NY, a daughter of Joseph and Veronica Larkin St. Denis, and graduated from Forestport High School. Alvina was united in marriage to Robert Halder, on June 29, 1946, in Sayre, PA; he died October 24, 2000. She was employed for many years at Revere Copper and Brass. She was a member of St. Paul's Church and the Rome Twigs, Rosewood Branch.
Alvina is survived by a daughter and son in law, Judy and Tom Dubanowich of Charlton, NY; two sons and daughters in law, George and Sharon Halder of Morrison, CO, and Gary and Janet Halder of River Edge, NJ; two sisters and a brother in law, Geraldine St. Denis of Rome, and Patricia and Richard Cranston of National City, MI; sisters in law, Gilda St. Denis, Marilyn St. Denis of Gig Harbor, WA, Anita St. Denis of N. Highlands, CA, and Barbara St. Denis of Bloomington, IN; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Bette Visconti and Eva St. Denis; and five brothers, Joseph, George, Thomas, Eugene and William St. Denis.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street and at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
