Alice E. Taylor, age 95, passed away peacefully November 12, 2011, with her loving family at her side.
Alice was born in Florence, NY, on September10, 1916, to Joseph and Mary Brazil Fitzgerald. She was a graduate of Camden High and received her RN degree from Mercy Hospital in Watertown, NY. She was working at Rome Murphy and Memorial Hospital when she met her future husband, William J. Taylor. They were married on September 14, 1940, at St. Mary's Church in Florence, NY; he died March 21, 1984. She was a member of St Mary of the Assumption Church in Rome, and St. John's Church in North Bay. She was a member of St. Mary's Altar-Rosary Society, Rome Catholic Daughters of America, Rome Nurses Association, Past President of Rome Catholic High Mothers' Club, St. John's, North Bay, Altar-Rosary Society and Mercy Hospital Alumni Association of Watertown, NY.
Alice is survived by eight children, W. Joseph Taylor (Sandy) of Rome, Mary Alice Kehoe (T. Lawrence) of Cornado, Panama, Catharine DeMare (William) of Tampa, FL, Ann Cooney (John) of Temple, TX, Gerald Taylor (Mary Ellen) of Canastota, John Taylor (Joelle) of Rome, Martha Tavantzis (Thomas) of Philadelphia, PA and Therese Taylor of Barre, VT. She also leaves behind seventeen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:15 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut, and at 11:00 AM, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home,Tuesday, 4 to 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church Restoration Fund in Florence, NY.
