Albert Stosal, Jr.
Albert Stosal, Jr., age 97, formerly of 66 Cross Street, Yorkville, passed away September 16, 2010, in Rome Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 18, 1913, in Starford, PA, a son of Albert and Mary Funkiet Stosal, and educated in Pennsylvania schools. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Utica, retiring in 1972, after many years of service. Albert proudly served in the U.S. Army during WW II, and was a life member of Love Post #406, American Legion in Boonville.
Albert is survived by three sisters, Rose Vernold of West Branch, Genevieve Vernold of West Branch, and Mary Kohli of Florida; a brother, Stanley Stosal of California; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, "Cookie", whom he treated as a daughter. He was predeceased by sisters and brothers, Frank, Sophie, Joe, Anna, Betty, John and Adam.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Monday, 9 to 11 AM, prior to the funeral service.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff and caregivers on C-Wing at Sunset Nursing Home in Boonville, and the staff at Rome Memorial Hospital ICU and especially Dr. Beth Bulawa, for their care and compassion extended to Albert during his illness.
