Hummel, age 87, of the Town of Floyd, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2024, at home, surrounded by his loving family.Al was born in Natrona, Pennsylvania on February 2, 1937 to the late Paul and Pearl Kull Hummel and earned his associate's dregree from Hudson Valley Community College. In May of 1956, he was united in marriage to the former Marion Burns. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1957. Al worked at Griffiss AFB as an electrical technician.He enjoyed camping, fishing, running, and biking. In his earlier years, he was a Boy Scout Leader and square danced with Marion.Al is survived by his loving wife, Marion; sons, Mark (Jeanne) Hummel of MA, and David (Rita) Hummel of Remsen; grandchildren, Jeremy Hummel, Robert (Susan) Hummel, Kirsten Hummel, Travis (Holly) Wickham, and Tayah Hummel; great grandchildren, Logan, Deegan, and Georgia; siblings, Clifford (Joyce) Hummel, Arlin (Dolores) Hummel, Jimmy (Joyce) Hummel, Suzanne Knopp, and Coralee (Bob) Reggatire; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Andrew Hummel; and his siblings, Joseph, Paul, and Marlin Hummel and Pearl Reedy. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 1 PM at the Holland Patent American Legion Post 161, 9550 Depot Street, Holland Patent, NY 13354. Military honors will be rendered during the celebration at 2 PM.Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W.
