Albert J. " Kedoe" Decker Jr. of Rome, NY left us on January 9th, 2025, at the age of 68.
Albert was born on May 1st, 1956, in Richfield Springs, to the late Albert and Esther (Greeney) Decker. He dedicated his life to serving his country and community. Albert served in the United States Army, where he developed a strong sense of duty and honor that he carried throughout his life. Following his military service, Albert worked as a courier for the Department of Defense, a role in which he took great pride and commitment. Upon retirement from the Army, Albert returned to resided in Rome, NY. Albert previously operated a HVAC company, Rome Environmental Systems; was a USPS postal carrier, and former supervisor at Human Technologies, INC. On August 25, 2018, he was united in marriage to the former Jean Hryckewicz.
Albert was a member of the Lee Legion Post 1794 and marched for many years with the color guard. Albert was also a Freemason who previously held office as Grandmaster of the Baron Steuben Lodge. Albert was a devout Catholic and educator of religion, He enjoyed hunting, motorcycles, collecting cocoa cola memorabilia and having good laughs with family and friends.
Albert is survived by his wife, Jean; his children, Sarah M. Decker and AJ (Lydia) Decker both of Rome; his stepchildren, Naomi (Stephen) Fosella of Rome, Sherry Connelly of Rome, Samantha Martin of Utica, and Michael Geary Jr. of Rome; several grandchildren; one great grandchild; his sister, Claudia Decker of Lee Center; his brother, Alan Decker of Westernville; sister Robin Lalonde of Rome, Angel Devoe of Rome; his beloved canine companion, Pepper; his special friend, Mitch Coogan; his military buddies from Brigade 76; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Albert greatly valued his family relationships.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Wednesday from 3 to 5 PM. Members of the Lee Legion will conclude calling hours with a service at 5 PM.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.
