Albert "Al" A. Peluso, age 70, a popular area musician, passed away October 22, 2011, with his loving family at his side.
He was born August 4, 1941, in Utica, a son of Alfonso and Virginia DePerna Peluso, and graduated from Proctor High School. Al was united in marriage to the former Lorraine "Pudgie" Newkirk on May 26, 1970, at the Church of St. John the Baptist. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. Al was a musician his entire life, but also worked many years as a car salesman and most recently as a bartender at the Turning Stone Casino.
Al loved all music. He was a very popular musical entertainer for many years in the area playing at several clubs and bars. He had an extensive record collection of all types of music and also was an avid baseball fan. Al loved the time he spent with "Pudgie", dining out and visiting casinos.
He is survived by his wife, "Pudgie"; a daughter and son in law, Nicole and Richard Hart of Rome; two sons and a daughter in law, Christopher and Cheryl Peluso of Rome, and Michael Peluso of Panama City Beach, FL; a sister, Kathleen Williams of Modesto, CA; a special granddaughter, Adrianna; his mother in law, America Newkirk; a sister in law and brothers in law, Pattie and Paul Angerosa of Clearwater, FL, and Bill Newkirk of Burbank, CA; a a niece and several nephews; and "Trixie"
The family sincerely thanks the Dr. Mark McGurrin and Staff of St. Joseph's Hospital Surgical Intensive Care Unit, for their care, compassion and friendship extended to Al.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Wednesday 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM.
