Alan A. Bailey, 69, of New York City, passed away after a brief illness on May 17, 2012 with his partner Richard at his side. He was born in Rome, NY on May 17, 1943, the son of Ernest and Mildred Bailey. He graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1961.
Alan attended the University of Buffalo where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and then went on to complete his Masters degree there as well. He lived and worked in Buffalo until 1979 at which time he moved to New York City and worked for the Comptroller's Office of the City of New York, from which he retired. He spent summers in Lee Center where his vision of turning a small camp into a special summer home became a reality. During the remainder of the year, Alan especially enjoyed hosting family and friends in New York City, where he made sure they saw all the sights.
Alan leaves behind his partner of 24 years, Richard Hauser; mother, Mildred Bailey; sister, Lee Ann Cruley and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers, James and Garry Bailey and his father.
A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at 2 PM.
