Adeline D. "Addie" Long

Adeline (Addie) D. Long of Forestport, N.Y. passed away peacefully on

July 4, 2012 at St. Luke's Home in Utica after a brief illness. Addie is the

beloved mother of Fr. Vincent Long, Pastor of The Parish Community of

St. Leo and St. Ann, Holland Patent, and Catholic Chaplain of Marcy

Correctional Facility, Marcy. Born in Syracuse, N.Y. on August 24,1920,

Addie was educated in local schools and met her husband-to-be,

Orlando A. Long, while at Grant School. Married on July 26,1941, the

Feast of Sts. Ann and Joachim, they lived in Syracuse briefly moving to

California and Florida over the years and always returning to the

Syracuse area. They were married for seventy years. Orlando passed

away on October 1, 2011. Addie was employed by the Muench-Kritzer

Candle Co., and later as a secretary-bookkeeper at Prosperity Corp, Case

Plumbing and Heating Supply, Plony's Plumbing and Heating and the

Metropolitan Commission on Aging from where she retired in 1986 .

Addie loved the homes that she, Orlando and their son lived in, all built

by Orlando. She especially loved the last hand-crafted home he built in

the woods in Forestport where they lived for 26 years. Addie was a

very loving, outgoing, happy woman who made her homes a place of

welcome, happiness and peace. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law, Olga Long and Grace Longof Syracuse, Jennie Long and Olga Mangicaro, both of

Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Fr. Bob

Weber, a family friend for many years, and her Forestport neighbors

Sue and Dave, John and Shelley and Anna as well as her many friends.

Addie is greatly missed. May she live on in happiness, light and peace.
