Obituary

Adam L. Mason, age 46, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 5, 2026.

Born on June 22, 1980, Adam was the beloved son of Karen D. Mason. He was also blessed with the love, guidance, and support of his stepfather, Fred Baker, who played an important role in his life.

Adam worked as a construction worker and was last employed with Copper City Plumbing. He was known as a guy who could fix just about anything. A true "Mr. Fix-It," Adam loved taking things apart just to figure out how they worked, then rebuilding them better than before. Whether it was a home repair, an engine, or a small household project, he enjoyed the challenge and satisfaction of making things work again.

To know Adam was to know laughter. Goofy, funny, and always the light of the room, he had an infectious smile and a carefree spirit that made others feel at ease. His generous heart knew few limits. He had a soft spot for those in need and would do anything to help someone, often putting others before himself. He believed in standing up for what was right and earned the respect of everyone fortunate enough to know him. He also held a deep admiration and respect for the men and women who serve in the United States military.

Adam found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. He loved riding his motorcycle, listening to music, and spending time in the kitchen. He was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed friendly cooking competitions with his mother, Karen—moments that became treasured family memories filled with laughter, love, and a little playful rivalry.

Above all, Adam will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, unwavering willingness to help others, and the happiness he brought wherever he went. His laughter, his smile, and his big heart leave behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Adam's memory will be forever cherished by his loving parents, Karen and Fred Baker of Rome; his maternal grandmother, Juanita P. Mason of Texas; his son, Jushua Collins of Utica; his sisters, Ariana Mason of Rome, Tiffany (Rob) Raison of Oneida and Tisha Baker of Oneida; his girlfriend, Carrie LaRock of Rome; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, with special mention of his Uncle Cedric Mason. He was predeceased by his brother, James “Jimmy” Baker, who passed away on August 25, 2025.

Though his time with us was far too short, the love he shared and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours for Adam on Monday, July 20, 2026 from 4:00PM – 6:00PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 West Chestnut Street, Rome, NY (315) 337-0055.
