Leon H. Crouse, Jr., age 85, of Rome, passed away peacefully at his home, on March 16, 2010.
He was born March 2, 1925, in Rome, the son of Leon H. and Mary Husted Crouse, and attended St. Aloysius Academy. Leon was united in marriage to the former Mary Reilley, on May 26, 1984, in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a truck driver, and was employed by several area trucking firms, including Dewitt Trucking of Rome.
Leon loved woodworking and was a skilled cabinetmaker. Many of his furniture pieces can be found in homes throughout the Rome area.
Leon is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters and a son in law, Sharon Romleski of Oneida, Charlene Putprush of Virginia, Jill Yerdon of Liverpool, and Roxanne and Larry Thompson of Arizona; sons and a daughter in law, Robert Crouse of Marcy, Tad Yerdon of Port Orange, FL, Michael Kaufman of Henrietta, TX, and Tim and Alys Crouse of Virginia Beach, VA; and several grand, great and great great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM at the Barry funeral Home, 807 West Chestnut Street.
