David Charles LaPoint, age 66, of Stittville, passed away Tuesday March 22, 2011, at home, with his loving family at his side.
He was born September 21, 1944, in St. Johnsbury, VT, a son of the late Wayne LaPoint and the late Beverly and William Thomas. David was joined in marriage to the former Sharilyn Ann Retsel, on September 27, 1967, a union of more than 43 years.
Dave was an avid outdoorsman, and loved the Rolling Stones.
Surviving besides his loving wife, Sharilyn; are a son, David P. (Lara) LaPoint; and three daughters, Kristee Castronovo, Kelle (Terry) Reed, and Paige McAllister, all of Rome; thirteen grandchildren, Brent Priz, Bryan Priz, Courtney Castronovo, Censie Reed Hardish, Kayla Reed, Whitney Reed, Anthony LaPoint, Wade McAllister, Alicia LaPoint, Deric Butler, Jesse LaPoint, Nicole LaPoint and Cole LaPoint; five great grandchildren; and a brother, Richard LaPoint of Lee Center. He was predeceased by two sons, David Jr, and Michael.
Funeral services will be private.
Friends will be received at the family home, 7273 Route 291, Stittville, on Saturday, March 26, 2011, from 1 to 6 PM
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care or Rome Humane Society.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
